Living Father and Mother of All

Holy are your Blessed Names

May Your Light dawn in my heart

May my will be Your Will

Let it reign upon this earth

so that Your way becomes my way

May the smallness of my self know forgiveness

              And may I forgive my own misguided ways

   Feed me your bread and feed me your wisdom

The New Year is a great time to re-energize and re-orient our sacred altar spaces. New cycles and seasons bring different prayers and intentions and our altars are a good place to reflect this. As is the inner so is the outer.

Our altars  give us an immediate place of sanctuary to come and reflect, pray, and meditate. Here we can sit and enter into the sacredness of our being and continue to create our relationship with the divine, in whatever way we are called. My own being is quite spiritually eclectic, if you will, and my altar reflects this.
I have a Black Madonna (who came back with me from Italy). I have icons of Yeshua and Magdalene. A Tau Rosary, honoring Francis of Assisi and came from Assisi, Italy. I have feathers and herbs and sage. Stones and natural tree/animal images. There is a crystal sphere, objects of intention for my spiritual growth, images of Teresa of Avila writing. My staff, complete with fox tail, and above it all is a painting of the Annunciation with Mother Mary receiving and agreeing to the message that the Archangel Gabriel brings her. May we also be prepared to receive divine messages and willingly agree!
Altars help to ignite our enthusiasm and devotion, especially when we may be feeling a little lacklustre or worn by the world. They help our concentration and openness to the Divine One, and they become a sacred space that we can be nourished by.
May this New Year bring in a renewed energy for you, allowing forgiveness and an open and spacious heart, to draw you further on your path towards your natural spiritual home.
