Not so far from Montsegur, in Southern France, where I stayed for many weeks recently, there are some very magical waterfalls. The area is full of mossy mounds and caves where the elemental spirits are very much alive. Truly hobbit land.
As I made my way climbing up the mountain I came to this waterfall which is pictured. And all I can say is that it was walking into the pure feminine energy of the yoni. I literally gasped as I came into Her presence, so clear was the energy in its fullness. As I walked closer and into the small pool, I allowed myself to be bathed by the waters, and I felt the healing presence coming through to me. It really was quite an exquisite gift.
I also visited a very Celtic area close by, filled with oak groves. Here was a natural labryinth, something I have never witnessed before. A natural maze-like configuration that you walk through, made of natural stone, and it leads you to a very healing place and again, to a yoni presence. It seemed to me that this was a place of healing ritual for the Celtic priestesses. There was a strong resonance here. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me so no images to show.
Perhaps we can find these places close to where we live. Special feminine healing places where we can go and sit and sing and dance and be healed by The Mother. So essential for all of us, both women and men. I had a friend tell me that on retreat he went and climbed a large tree and was cradled by Her arms. He felt that he was being held and loved by The Mother. So much healing for him.
May we all experience the healing grace that we need

What Binds Us in this Life?

Recently while on pilgrimage in Avila there came into one of the teachings a vision that Teresa had. It was of Christ being bound to a pillar prior to his final days upon this earth. It was not a vision that I had previously contemplated in any depth, but what came to light was a very Buddhist interpretation. And that was, how we are all bound to this life in one form or another (or in many ways). It could be our fears, our addictions, our busy-ness, our need for control and so on. Or, one could say, the ego-self with its perpetual needs and desires. We are not living with a free heart but rather as slave to the smaller mind and ego.

This was an original Christian or Gnostic teaching, but has long been disassociated from that wisdom. It is time for us to understand that Truth of Light that was being offered, not through the person of Yeshua per se, but through the greater wisdom of the Light Realm that he carried, and that he was.
If we choose to become unbound, what then may occur in our lives? In order to become unbound we need to cease identifying with the smallness of our life in the world, and return to our true identification in the larger realm of Light from where we arose. No small feat. But we can keep returning again and again. In this way our identification with the smaller self becomes less and less real, and just something that happens as we live this life.

Teresa kept a statue of this vision, that is, Christ bound to the pillar, to remind her how we are all bound and also to help her have compassion for people. After all, it is not their “annoying” habits or personality, but rather, how they are bound to the pillar of their smaller self.
Perhaps we can bind ourselves instead to the divine pillar of Light, opening to realms and ways that we do not even know to be possible as yet.
May you find your heart free

What a powerful time it was journeying with Teresa of Avila recently and all the wonderful pilgrims who made the retreat what it was. Above are some of the pilgrims making their way contemplatively around the Labryinth of the Seven Dwellings.
We began at the First Dwelling: The Awakening – reflecting on how in our lives we may become more awake to the presence of the divine, to the presence of each moment. And we walked…
Stepping into the Second Dwelling: The Return – how may we return, or commit, again and again to our path, to the depth of being calling us.
Being invited into the Third Dwelling: Self-Knowledge – how we can shift our vision to know the True Self, and not becoming absorbed by the smaller self and personality.
Following into the Fourth Dwelling: Interior Recollection – how can we become more subtly aware and sensitive in our daily living to the divine indwelling
and all the loving impulses waiting for us.
Falling into the Fifth Dwelling: Surrender – repeatedly surrendering our plans, our agendas, our expectations (spiritual or otherwise), and abiding in the Love of All That Is.
Being led into the Sixth Dwelling: The Betrothal and the place of Purification – can we allow ourselves to be purified over and over without complaining, without running. Can we know joy in the midst of purification knowing it is preparing us for union with The Beloved.
With pureness of heart coming into the Seventh Dwelling: The place where only you and the Beloved reside. There are no words here, but only the whispers between lovers in the night.
These Dwellings are based upon the newly released and newly titled book: Meditations with Teresa of Avila – A Journey into the Sacred, published by New World Library.
I give deep thanks to my sister Teresa, and to all the pilgrims who journeyed with me recently in Avila.

The three sisters are Eriu, Banba, and Fodhla. They were all known as Queens of the Land. When the Gaels came to Ireland they first came across Banba, and to honor her they agreed to name the land after her. They continued and came across Fodhla, and did the same. Traveling to the center of Ireland they saw a queen with such radiance one moment and then changing to a great crow and hag the next. One of the Gaels refused to honor her and he met his death, another promised her the island would be named after her forever and he was blessed. Her name was Eiru.
There are three distinct hill-cliffs who are still honored today as the Three Sisters, and we were fortunate to be given permission to walk out to them. As we climbed up Eiru, I heard her whisper that she wanted us to chant her name, and so we did. She opened to us, blessed us, and cradled us in her motherly and fertile arms.
From afar these hills look barren, but upon reaching closer to the top an abundant lushness suddenly appears.
How do we honor the name of this earth? How do we honor our own name?  And can we let ourselves be nourished and blessed in such a way?
It truly was a very special day that touched us all deeply. The Living Mother spoke to us in many ways. It was very humbling and something that stays with us all.
I wish you all the love of The Mother
Megan
